The integration of smart services like AI-driven recommendations and keyless entry hinges on robust, high-speed internet access. This creates significant challenges for venues, especially those with varying capacity needs, making in-building connectivity a critical factor in sustaining customer satisfaction and loyalty.
MDU Tech Updates
In an effort to improve broadband access in multi-tenant buildings, the FCC is considering a proposal to allow residents to opt out of bulk billing arrangements, which can trap them in costly or subpar service contracts. While bulk billing offers potential savings, it often fails to serve the best interests of all tenants, especially those who qualify for low-cost plans. The proposed opt-out option would provide consumers with more freedom to choose services that better fit their needs, fostering a more competitive and responsive market. This initiative is part of the FCC’s broader strategy to enhance consumer protection and market transparency.
FCC Grants $500K
The Statewide Education Network, which links schools across New Mexico with improved internet and cybersecurity, has secured over $500,000 in federal funding from the FCC. This network allows students to access shared resources and information, enhancing educational opportunities statewide. Currently, about 50 schools are connected, and the new funding will help bring more schools into the program. The state aims to have 840 schools connected by 2027, supporting broader educational equity.
